Another bridging and Coming of Age worship have come and go, and we are transitioning into our Summer schedule. Please read through the info provided here, and come and join us this summer for some fun workshops!

Summer at South Church- On June 18th we will begin our summer program at South Church. Our summer theme is living our faith in the larger community– whenever weather allows* we will be heading off after the story for all ages to explore and engage with the spaces and people around us. I am currently looking for volunteers who are able to help lead a Sunday class or two over the summer months. It is a HUGE help if you can email me and let me know you’d be willing to chip-in. Cat and I cannot do it alone, so sign up using links below! I promise, we’re gonna have some fun!!
June 18- Banner Making for PRIDE! with Cat and Kirsten
July 9- Walk to African Burial Grounds
July 16- Visit to Portsmouth Fire Department
July 23- Story Prep/Make up date
July 30- Multi-Generational Service- (Kids attend worship)
August 6- Public music making w/Special guest!
August 13- Science exploration at Prescott park!
August 20- Multi-Generational Service- (Kids attend worship)
Training opportunities: Have any interest in facilitating OWL sexuality education for 5th grade, 7th grade, or High school? Or, are you curious about Spirit Play, our montessori based program for preschool-Kindergarten age students? There are trainings for both programs coming up this fall! Please reach out and we can talk more about these incredible opportunities (which the RE program will pay expenses for, and you just get to attend and soak up new learning!)
Fall Program: There are some big questions about space options this coming fall, so I don’t have a lot of specifics to share with y’all just yet about what the calendar will look like. However, we plan to be offering the following programs, and I will be recruiting folks for each of the following programs, so please let me know how you’d like to volunteer. It takes all of us giving a little of our time to make this amazing program come to life. Thank you in advance for the ways you help make it bloom!!
2017-2018 Religious Education Program offerings
(we have a staffed nursery for children from birth through age 3 every Sunday)
- Spirit Play– Four-6 year old Preschool and Kindergarten aged students
- Theme based Workshops– 1st-6th grade children
- Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education (OWL)–
- 5th grade- 8 week program
- 7th grade- year long program
- 10th-11th grade- 10 week program
- Coming of Age- 8th grade, year long program. (looking for facilitators and mentors
- Senior Youth Group- High School aged youth. Generally meets evenings from 4-5:30 pm
2016 Star Island South Church Retreat: Deepening: Make time for deepening and connecting on beautiful Star Island during the annual South Church Star Island Retreat. 4 days of rest, restoration, and reflection, starting Saturday, July 29th. Reverend Lauren and Chris will be on island offering opportunities for Spiritual Deepening, and children’s activities will be provided each morning. For more information, registration, costs, etc you can pick up information during coffee hour, or send an email and I’ll put you in touch with the retreat planners! We hope to see you there!
