| Last weekend was our Youth Group Orientation and Overnight: logistics, forms, information, signatures, covenanting, snacks, worship, conversation, and MURDER! (The fun kind.😁) For any parents and youth who weren’t able to join us for orientation, here’s a quick roundup of the things we need you to take care of, along with some important information for the year ahead. Forms to Complete 1. Transportation ReleaseThis form tells us your family’s expectations and rules for how your teen gets to their next destination after youth group meetings. Please complete and return it. Paper copies are available if needed. 2. Behavior AgreementThis document outlines the policies and expectations for participating in youth group. Parents/guardians AND youth need to read it, sign the last page, and return that page to us. Please keep the rest of the document for your reference. Paper copies are available if needed. 3. RE Registration (Parents/Guardians)Whether or not you attended orientation, parents–please complete the online RE registration for your teen. We ask all families participating in Religious Education in any capacity to register at the start of each program year so we have up-to-date information. It only takes a few minutes! Other Important Information The Justice Learning Trip to Alabama — June 2027 Our June trip to Alabama will be part of our yearlong learning about racial justice history. We’ll explore the Civil Rights Movement, visit historic sites, and connect what we learn about the past to issues of justice today. There will be learning sessions and fundraising throughout the year for those planning to participate. Read about the trip, costs, requirements, and learning sessions here. Youth Group CalendarYou can find upcoming meetings and events on our Google Calendar here or on the South Church Youth Programming website. There is NO Youth Group meeting this Sunday 10/11 because of the holiday weekend. Maybe we’ll see you at this weekend’s all-ages worship instead? Tomorrow, Saturday, October 3, is our Senior Youth Orientation & Overnight!
Parents: Please join us for the parent portion of orientation from 7:00–8:00 PM Saturday in the Social Hall. We’ll cover logistics, the behavior contract, permission forms, fundraising, and upcoming trip information.
It’s important that parents attend this portion. We’ll keep it as concise as we can, so please arrive on time and plan ahead for busy Saturday night parking in Portsmouth!
Youth: After the parent portion, youth are invited to stay overnight at church for play, bonding, night worship, and more. In the morning, youth can either head home or stay for worship and help with Time for All Ages or RE.
- Sleeping bag
- Camping pad or mattress
- Pillow
- PJs
- Water bottle
- Toothbrush, toiletries
- Towel
- Any medications you take
- Warm layers–church basement gets chilly
- Favorite snacks to share
- Permission form filled out by parent/guardian

We will not have a meeting Sunday afternoon because of this event 🙂
